Beloved Horses of IEA

A Fundraiser Benefitting the Interscholastic Equestrian Association

The IEA has come a long way as we celebrate our 25th Anniversary and none of it would have been possible without horses like Billy White Shoes. Riding schools and lesson programs are where young IEA riders begin, professionals are developed, and dreams turn into visions of the future. Beloved Horses of the IEA honors the horse’s past & present, like Billy White Shoes who carried us on our journeys and help ensure future young riders have the same opportunity.

Billy White Shoes - He was the winning draw in the first IEA Varsity Open Championship in 2002 - and 10 years later at IEA's 10th Anniversary show, at the age of 23, he was still winning classes!

 Known as “the first horse of the IEA,” Billy White Shoes was a children’s/adult jumper when he was donated to The Andrews School (now known as Andrews Osborne Academy) at the young age of six. The handsome chestnut with four white stockings and a blaze in the shape of the number “1” was the “wonder draw”, able to teach young riders the basics and let the more advanced riders shine over higher jumps.

The horse that raises the most in donations will be named the 2026-2027 Beloved Horse of IEA Champion and will become next year’s IEA Holiday Ornament model! All donations will support IEA young riders through Financial Assistance, Youth Development, Scholarships, and Horsemanship Educational Programming.

And…because it is also The Year of The Horse – IEA wants to celebrate by giving back to support all the horses we love.  5% of all donations raised through this campaign will be gifted to support The Equus Foundation!

  • Friend of IEA Beloved Horses $100- $249

    Horse’s name listed on website.

  • Advocate for IEA Beloved Horses $250 - $499

    Horse’s name and photo are included on website.

  • Champion of IEA Beloved Horses $500 -$999

    Horse’s name and photo included on website with a large photo, highlighted on IEA social media.

  • Founding Donor of IEA Beloved Horses $1,000 & Above

    Donors who give a total of at least $1,000 (example - $500 donations for two horses) will be listed as Founding Donors on the website, be highlighted on IEA social media, receive a “Beloved Horses Founding Donor” badge for digital display, and a display banner to hang.
