(August 6, 2018 – Columbus, OH) – The Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA) has finalized the dates and locations for the 2018-2019 season Western Semi-Finals competitions.

The first of two Semi-Finals will take place on April 6-7, 2019 at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. The second Semi-Finals will take place the following weekend on April 13-14, 2019 at the Ohio State Fairgrounds in Columbus, Ohio.

The IEA Western Zone will again be divided into eight regions with four regions attending each Semi-Finals:

  • Region 4, Region 5-2(S), Region 7, and Region 8 will attend the Semi-Finals in Tennessee.
  • Region 1, Region 2, Region 5-1(N) and Region 11 will attend the Semi-Finals in Ohio.

Please see the attached document for details on Regional Assignments, Post Season Format, Fundraising, and other important information.

"We liked the Western Committee recommendations to move up the Semi-Finals dates from the previous year to minimize senior conflicts and to remain in the same general locations for one additional year," says Semi-Finals Coordinator, Todd Knerr. "We are currently investigating host sites for 2020 Semi-Finals with an overall goal of having at least one of thse events on the western side of the Mississippi, and definitely moving the event to have different regions taking on the hosting duties and different travel opportunities for our members."

Recommendations for potential Semi-Finals locations can be sent to Roxane Durant at Roxane@rideiea.org. The IEA is aiming to announce the 2020 sites by January 2019 so that teams can get these events on their calendars a lot earlier as we move forward.
