SafeSport Required Education

IEA holds the safety of its riders in the highest regard. Through the sanctioning of horse shows, IEA aims to provide a playing field that is both level and safe. New requirements related to SafeSport education were recently implemented for IEA Board Members, Staff, and Zone Administrators, in addition to their required background checks. As our next step of compliance, beginning in the 2019-2020 membership season, IEA will need to require all Coaches and Adult Members to prove completion of SafeSport education as a condition of membership. Signed IEA membership application forms must be accompanied by a SafeSport completion certificate for all adult members.

Adults who have already completed this tutorial through another organization can attach their certificate of completion.   With parental permission, rider members are able to take SafeSport education, as well.  Some coaches are offering a team event for parents and riders to take SafeSport education together.

To complete your SafeSport Training, follow these instructions:

The training consists of watching a series of videos and answering questions on multiple topics and takes approximately 1-1.5 hours to complete. When completed, you will be able to download a PDF of your SafeSport Completion Certificate to include with your IEA Membership application.

PLEASE NOTE:

Please note that IEA adult members are required to complete the SAFESPORT TRAINED CORE course, followed by the two CORE REFRESHER courses in following years.  Any other training course may not be accepted.

If you belong to another organization that offers the SAFESPORT TRAINED CORE course and the two CORE REFRESHER courses, we recommend you complete the training through them.
